JR Motorsports has announced Dale Earnhardt Jr. as the interim crew chief for Connor Zilisch at Pocono Raceway this weekend due to Mardy Lindley’s suspension for loose lug nuts.
Earnhardt, a NASCAR Hall of Famer and team co-owner, will make his debut as a crew chief, marking the first time a member of the Earnhardt family has held such a role in any of the sport’s national levels.
Dale Jr., the son of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, boasts a successful racing career with 26 wins, including two Daytona 500 victories, before retiring and being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021.
Zilisch, a promising 18-year-old driver under contract with Trackhouse, has secured a playoff spot following his victory at COTA earlier this season, adding to the anticipation surrounding the unique collaboration at Pocono.
